Why launch Veligo Location?

Only 1.6% of trips are made by bike (i.e. 650,000 daily trips) in Île-de-France. The Urban Travel Plan of Île-de-France (PDUIF) aims to increase the use of bicycles. In addition, the Île-de-France region, via its Bicycle Plan, wants to triple the number of bicycle trips in Île-de-France.

Île-de-France Mobilités has been committed since 2011 to the deployment of bicycle parking in stations by financing project owners. The Ile-de-France region's Bicycle Plan plans to devote 100 million euros by 2021 to finance cycling infrastructure. To create a strong ripple effect on the practice and to convince people of the advantages of electrically assisted bicycles, Île-de-France Mobilités has decided to launch an e-bike rental service for the entire Île-de-France.

Véligo Location in a few words

At the end of 2019, with a fleet of 10,000 electrically assisted bicycles, Véligo Location will become the largest electrically assisted bicycle rental service in the world. Depending on the success, this fleet could reach up to 20,000 bikes.

How much does the Véligo Location service cost?

From September 2019, Ile-de-France residents will have access to the electrically assisted bike rental service, Véligo Location, for €40 per month and a duration of 6 months to 9 months maximum, thanks to the possibility of renewing the subscription 1 time for 3 months.

Reduced rates will be offered to different audiences. In addition, 50% of the subscription can be reimbursed by the employer in exchange for an invoice obtained via Véligo Location.

Additional service offers such as accessory rental or insurance will be offered to customers who have subscribed to a Véligo Location subscription.

How do I subscribe to the Véligo Location service?

The subscription can be done online, via the website before collecting your bike from a collection point in the distribution network. Go here to subscribe to the service: www.veligo-location.fr

The distribution network is based on La Poste and Transdev agencies, Urbis Park car parks and bicycle shops. A precise map of Véligo Location's approved distribution points will be communicated in the spring of 2019.

What to do in the event of a breakdown or damage?

Preventive maintenance of the bike will be included in the price of the subscription. Véligo Location's customer service will offer support to ensure a quick and efficient intervention in the event of a breakdown.

In the event of theft or major damage, a deposit will be charged. The user will have the possibility of benefiting from a breakage & theft insurance reducing or cancelling this deposit, offered when subscribing to the Véligo Location service.

Who can use this service?

The objective is to make the electrically assisted bicycle a means of transport accessible to all, and in an equitable way throughout the region. This means taking into account the hilly character of the Île-de-France region and the distances of several kilometres. Under these conditions, the electrically assisted bicycle appears to be the most appropriate response to allow as many people as possible to be able to travel by bike.

The service is primarily intended for adults to facilitate their daily journeys on the way to and from work to school. The children's offer with the provision of a cargo bike will be developed, the launch date has not yet been defined.

When will the service be implemented?

E-bikes will be available for rent from autumn 2019.

Pre-subscriptions will be possible from June 2019.
