The RER E arrives in Nanterre

That's it, the RER E is coming to Nanterre from May 6, 2024.

Three new stations (Porte Maillot, La Défense-Grande Arche and Nanterre-la-Folie) opened their doors and extended the line by 8 km to the west.

The goal? To improve service to the west of the Ile-de-France region and offer a comfortable and modern alternative to all passengers on the RER A, whose western section is very busy during rush hour.

Three new modern stations for the extension of the RER E

The three new stations of the extension : bright, modern and architecturally ambitious, have been designed for the comfort of passengers with:

  • High ceilings that let in natural light,
  • Widened platforms and accessible facilities that simplify travel for all passengers,
  • And many connections with the rest of the network (RER A, lines L, U, P, metro 1, trams T2 and T3b) to facilitate travel in Île-de-France.

RER E in Nanterre, a first step before the new terminus in Mantes-la-Jolie

After Nanterre-La Folie, the RER E continues its journey to Mantes-la-Jolie, the final terminus of the line to the west, which is scheduled to enter service in 2026.

A 55 km extension between Saint-Lazare and Mantes-la-Jolie that will make the RER E the line with the most connections in the Ile-de-France transport network.

Initially, the RER E will run at a rate of 4 trains per hour from 10:00 to 16:00 only between Nanterre La Folie and Magenta stations, pending the arrival of other new-generation RER trains that will make it possible to reach a normal service by the end of 2024.
