Pole - Station

RedevelopmentMelun station hub

The station sector

The station sector includes 6 main facilities:

  • Making the station accessible
  • The creation of a new underpass
  • The redevelopment of the public tunnel into a tunnel reserved for bicycles
  • The north exit of the new underpass
  • The south exit of the new underpass
  • The renovation of the accesses and the existing public underpass to the north

Accessibility of the station

To comply with the legislation and to guarantee access for all passengers, the accessibility program includes:

  • The creation of a new underpass
  • The raising of the platforms, carried out to accommodate new generation trains and guarantee easy access to the trains for all passengers.
  • Renovation of the existing underpass
  • The replacement of the Automatic Ticket Control (CAB) gates with a more capacity system to ensure better passenger fluidity
  • Several interventions on the station site to guarantee accessibility for all passengers (installation of handrails for people with reduced mobility, devices for the blind, upgrading of lighting, etc.)

This work is accompanied by a renovation of the street furniture on the quays: shelters, lighting, security installations, etc.

(2)The creation of the new underpass

The 2018 public consultation highlighted the need for an underpass accessible to all passengers. It will make it possible to relieve congestion at the station thanks to new access to the platforms, but also to create a link between the north and south of the city thanks to free access for pedestrians and wheelchair users (UFR).

(3) The redevelopment of the public tunnel into a tunnel reserved for bicycles

To support the development of bicycle use, the existing public tunnel linking Avenue Thiers to Place de l'Ermitage (not wheelchair accessible) will be redeveloped to be reserved for non-motorized two-wheelers. Pedestrians and wheelchair users (UFR) will use the new underpass.

(4) The North Exit of the New Underpass

This connecting structure to the north will make the entrance to the station visible and access the new underpass and the platforms. An Ile-de-France Mobilités bicycle parking lot and shops will be set up there.

(5)The South Exit of the New Underpass

This will make it possible to unify the access to the two underground passages (new underpass and current underpass).

(6)Renovation of the accesses and the existing underpass

In order to relieve congestion at the station, the project provides for the improvement of the existing underpass, which provides access to the platforms and connects the station to Rue Séjourné. This includes:

  • Widening the existing entrance to the passage
  • The implementation of new automatic ticket control (CAB) gates, offering better throughput
  • Renovation of the canopy of the passenger building
  • Repair of the passage
  • Accessibility measures (in particular the installation of a guide strip for the visually impaired).
