How was the route of the extension and the location of the new stations determined?

Three route variants were submitted for consultation in 2014. In 2016, taking into account the lessons learned from the consultation and additional studies, the route through the Grands Pêchers station was selected by all the partners for the continuation of the schematic studies.
The locations envisaged for the 3 new stations of the Metro 1 extension were selected with regard to several characteristics:
• The quality of the urban service (population and jobs served within a radius of 800 m, facilities served, development projects, urban integration),
• Transport optimisation (needs to be met, links with existing transport, quality of connections, traffic estimates),
• The technical feasibility (impacts of the project on public and private land, built and unbuilt, impacts of the works, conditions of implementation with regard to the relief and the urban fabric),
• Investment costs (infrastructure and rolling stock).
