The construction of the extension of Metro 1 between Château de Vincennes and Val de Fontenay will be largely underground and occasionally from the surface, particularly for the stations and ancillary structures. A tunnel boring machine is planned to dig the tunnel from the rear station of Val de Fontenay in the east and to the Bois de Vincennes in the west. The stations and ancillary structures will be built from the surface using the construction technique of diaphragm walls. Finally, the connection of the new tunnel to the existing rear station of Château de Vincennes will be carried out partly underground and partly from the surface.
