What would the rear station and the new train breakdown centre be used for?
Published on
The rear station is an entirely underground extension of the tracks beyond the terminus, which allows trains to turn around and park outside of service hours. The train breakdown centre, directly connected to the line, allows trains to be repaired quickly, in less than an hour, and to avoid service interruptions. It is essential for the operation of the extension, for which 12 new metro trains would run. Indeed, the current Metro 1 breakdown centre, at Porte Maillot, would be too far from the new terminus, and the train maintenance workshops in Fontenay-sous-Bois are dedicated to the heavy maintenance of five metro lines (1, 4, 6, 11 and 14) and could not accommodate this new function.
