The work

Understanding the work

6 steps are necessary to carry out the extension of the T7 tram line.

Stage 1: concession work – Ongoing since 2023 on the entire route

This work consists of moving the existing underground networks (gas, electricity, telecommunications, water, sanitation) located under the future tramway platform. Thus, the operation of the T7 will not be disrupted by the routine maintenance operations of these networks. This is an essential step for any transport infrastructure project. This work is being carried out in successive sections.

Stage 2: Preparatory work – Ongoing since 2023 on the entire route

This work aims to free up and prepare the space necessary for the development of the tramway. On the RN7, the tram tracks will be in the centre of the road. It was therefore necessary to remove the existing underpasses (pedestrian and road) located in this area, in order to allow the construction of the future platform. This work is being carried out in successive sections.

Step 3: urban development work – Ongoing since 2025 on the RN7

Once the first two phases have been completed, urban development work can begin. This work is being carried out before the central platform to allow the installation of networks under the platform and the reinforcement of the roadway. This work is taking place in the municipalities of Paray-Vieille-Poste, Athis-Mons and Juvisy-sur-Orge.

Step 4: Civil engineering work – From December 2026 in Juvisy-sur-Orge

The civil engineering site will be set up in the autumn. This work will make it possible to build the underground structures of the T7 extension: the only underground station on the route "the Observatory station", the trenches and the tunnel that will pass under the Ducastel park and the town hall park in Juvisy-sur-Orge.
This phase will include earthworks, support and construction of the concrete structures necessary to build the trenches, tunnel and station.

Step 5: Railway works – From summer 2027 along the route

Once the infrastructure is completed, the teams will proceed with the installation of the tramway tracks along the entire route, in a gradual manner.
This step will mark the visible realization of the future tram line.

Step 6: Testing and Dry Run – Horizon 2032

Once the infrastructure works have been completed, a phase of technical tests and dry runs will be organised before the commercial commissioning of the extension. This step makes it possible to test all the equipment, to check the compliance of the installations and to train the operating teams in real conditions.

Maintaining traffic
Throughout the project, particular attention is paid to maintaining pedestrian or road traffic thanks to the implementation of temporary facilities and appropriate signage guaranteeing the safety of all.

Nuisance limited as much as possible
The teams are organising the work in such a way as to minimise the nuisances associated with the work: noise, vibrations, dust and congestion in the public space. The most restrictive interventions are planned outside sensitive hours, in compliance with the regulations in force.
